How Much Kitchen, Bathroom and Interior Design Is Included?

Our typical plan set includes the architectural layout of kitchens, bathrooms and built-ins shown in the 2D floor plans.

We show the general locations and sizes of cabinets, islands, appliances, sinks, toilets, showers, vanities and other major elements so the rooms are properly sized and work with the overall design of the house. We typically do not include detailed interior elevations or cabinet shop drawings.

For clients who want to visualize the interiors in more detail, we can also create 3D interior models and renderings as an additional service, including BIMx models that allow you to explore the space. These are design and visualization tools, not fabrication or shop drawings.

We also do not typically select individual cabinets, plumbing fixtures, flooring, finishes, hardware or other interior-design items. An interior designer can help with those selections, while your builder is often the best resource for understanding cost, availability and installation.

For kitchens, detailed cabinet layouts and shop drawings are usually best handled by the kitchen or cabinet company that will actually supply the cabinetry. In most cases, that detailed kitchen design is provided at no additional design fee as part of purchasing the cabinets. That is their specialty, and it makes little sense to pay us to duplicate work that the kitchen company will ultimately develop anyway.

We design the architectural layout and make sure the space works. Detailed selections, shop drawings and fabrication details are then handled by the appropriate specialists.
